The single voice of the towing and recovery industry, its owners and operators in the Province of Alberta.

Society Profile

The Towing and Recovery Association of Alberta was established in 2017 after a group of industry stakeholders recognized the need for a representing body for our industry. Devon Poole started the talks and was quickly joined by Jeff Thomas and together, they decided to organize a meeting of information on June 3rd, 2017 in Red Deer. JF Gagnon was approached by Mr. Poole to help plan the meeting and lay the ground work of the society. Guy Huta of the Towing and Recovery Alliance of Canada was brought in to the group as well as his son, Ryan Huta. Finally, Larry Burt, who had been an active member of the provincial towing association in the 1990’s joined the effort and together, these men formed the founding members of the Towing and Recovery Association of Alberta.

The core values of our association revolve around partnership. We gave ourselves the mission to facilitate, promote and encourage strong relationships and dialogue among all industry professionals, government and regulatory agencies, law enforcement and the motoring public. We also strive to offer the Society’s members a forum to share ideas, lobby, and work together with different levels of government and their agencies to provide Albertans with the delivery of services of the utmost level of professionalism. We also wish to professionalize the image of the towing industry by efficiently communicating with the motoring public and the media. We strive for a safer environment for our members, their employees and contractors, as well as, the motoring public. Finally, we wish to be recognized as the single voice of the towing and recovery industry, its owners, and operators, in the Province of Alberta.
